24/10/2009 - Candlelight Carer Wins Top Award
Candlelight Care staff manager Helen Haberfield, was presented with a top carer award to recognise and honour outstanding service in the social care industry in Somerset.
Care staff manager Helen Haberfield, who works for Candlelight Homecare Services at its branch in Glastonbury, was presented with a top carer award at a gala dinner held to recognise and honour outstanding service in the social care industry in Somerset.
The work of 39 people from the county’s social care workforce was celebrated at the Somerset Care Awards ceremony and Mrs Haberfield won the Tim Catley-Day Award for the most inspirational individual, bringing the award back to Candlelight for the second year running.
Last year, the award, which is presented in memory of Candlelight’s former managing director who died in March 2004, was won by Dawn Wasley, who works at Candlelight’s Trowbridge branch.
Candlelight Homecare Services’ new managing director congratulated Mrs Haberfield on behalf of everyone at Candlelight. She praised her dedication and professionalism and said they were delighted for her, particularly as the Tim Catley-Day Award was so significant to them all.
Mrs Haberfield, 47, who lives in Glastonbury, has worked for Candlelight Homecare Services for seven years and now manages 36 staff from the Glastonbury branch. She became care staff manager five years ago after holding the position of care and support worker.
Candlelight Homecare Services operates throughout Somerset, Bath, Dorset and Wiltshire providing long and short term specialist care, including 24 hour live-in care, to help and support people so they can continue living in their own home.
