To celebrate National Older People's Day we have invited our clients living in the Glastonbury, Somerset area to join us for a delicious cream tea and an afternoon of entertainment. The tea is being held at Tilham Farm, near Glastonbury and we are expecting nealy 40 clients to join us.
Somerset Active Living will be there to explain about the activity clubs they run for older people throughout Somerset and give everyone a chance to take part in some 'Flexercise.' A local group of hand-bell ringers will be giving a demonstration and those who want to can join in and have a go. We will also be entertained by one of our clients who was a member of Glastonbury Male Voice Choir for many years and who is going to treat us to a performance on saxophone and clarinet. We will end the afternoon with some singing.
The theme of this years Older People's Day is ‘getting and staying active in later life’ and Candlelight is pleased to add their support to encourage awareness of the importance of this. Earlier this year Candlelight set up the Candlelight Community in the Somerset area to give our clients the opportunity to get out and meet others over a meal or afternoon tea, to go to a concert or other place of interest. This has proved to be very successful and we are hoping to expand it to other areas next year.
