What Help is Available?
In the short term you might be entitled to help from the community or district nurse or other health professionals, but what do you do when the short term care ends? What if you need extra assistance over and above what is being provided? This is where we can help.
We can provide care staff who have had Stroke Association training, who will be sensitive to the needs of you and your family.
They will be able to support you in any number of ways, from assistance with normal everyday tasks such as washing, dressing, shopping and light housework, right through to more complex care or respite cover for your main carer.
Our staff can work alongside some of the healthcare professionals, such as the physiotherapist and speech therapist, to help encourage, prompt and assist with rehabilitation exercises. They will have ideas to make things easier, such as a Life Book to aid communication.
In some areas we can offer a Home & Garden Maintenance Service to help with household or gardening tasks.
