Care and Support Staff Job Description


SUMMARY OF THE JOB
You will be employed by Candlelight Homecare Services Limited to work primarily, but not exclusively, with clients living in the community.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Undertaking care of clients with regard to their physical and emotional needs up to and including, but not exceeding, care agreed in the Care Plan.  Taking due consideration for the client’s privacy, dignity, autonomy and independence. Where necessary, responding with initiative to unusual circumstances.

2.  Meticulous recording of key events and all activities undertaken in the client’s home to ensure the health, rights and best interests of clients are safeguarded.

3.  Promoting and protecting the health, safety and welfare of clients (and yourself) through the use of safe working practices, observing appropriate Health and Safety guidelines and company procedures.

4.  Developing skills and understanding of the special needs of clients who may be physically or mentally frail, or suffer from disabilities.

5.  Observing the principles of confidentiality in discussion with colleagues and whilst dealing with information given by clients or their representatives.

6.  Attending training and refresher courses arranged by Candlelight as appropriate in line with your personal development plan, paying particular attention to Health and Safety and emergency procedures.

7.  Working as a member of a team, attending meetings as necessary to discuss company operations. Attending four supervision sessions and an annual appraisal with your supervisor.

8.  Undertaking such duties as may be required by your Area Manager or your supervisor.
